Catechists

The Catechist
'Catechists' is the common term used to describe parish volunteers who generously give their time to visit local state primary schools and share the Catholic faith with children.
Through their friendly presence in the classroom, catechists help children grow in their understanding of Jesus while building a meaningful link between families, schools, and the parish community.
Today, those who serve in this ministry are also known as Scripture or Special Religious Education (SRE) teachers.
On behalf of the parish, catechists joyfully pass on the Good News of Jesus Christ to the children they teach.

Our Curriculum
Walking With Jesus (Kindergarten–Year 6) is a highly regarded curriculum created by the Broken Bay Diocese, Confraternity of Christian Doctrine (CCD).
We invite you to explore a sample book and see how the Word of God comes alive in the hands of young children, helping to nurture their faith in meaningful and joyful ways.
To arrange to take a copy home, please contact our Catechist Coordinator - contact details can be found in the Parish Groups & Ministries Directory.
Becoming A Catechist
This is a vibrant and joyful ministry that offers catechists the privilege of sharing the 'joy of the Gospel' with our parish children.
We are always looking for new volunteers to join our catechist team, either as catechists or as classroom helpers.
"Being a catechist is an incredibly rewarding role, offering the opportunity to witness the wonder and curiosity on the children’s faces as they learn about Jesus and the faith. It’s a privilege to inspire, guide, and be part of their spiritual journey, creating memories and moments that can last a lifetime." (Jan Favaloro, retired catechist)
