Dear friends,

The Feast of the Baptism of the Lord concludes the Church’s Christmas Season. Jesus’ baptism reminds us that Jesus stands in solidarity with us, entering the waters of Jordan to reveal God’s loving closeness to humanity. As the heavens open and the Father proclaims Jesus as His beloved Son, we are reminded of our own baptism, when we too were claimed as God’s beloved children.

On the day of his baptism, Jesus experienced a profound moment of grace. However, he also understood that his baptism was a call from God to begin the mission entrusted to him — to bring true justice to the nations.

Baptism is not just a past event or a certificate kept away, but a mission or calling. Through our baptism, we are invited to live as children of God, to stand for justice, to show mercy, and to witness to Christ in our families, parish, and wider community.

May this feast renew our gratitude for the gift of baptism and strengthen us to live faithfully as sons and daughters of God.

Wishing you all a blessed Sunday,

Fr Biju Jose OSH, PP
